West Bengal to get Indias first dolphin reserve[10/10/2015]
Indias first community reserve to protect the endangered Gangetic river dolphins will come up in West Bengal. It would be set up in the Hooghly river and the methodology to develop the community reserve is being chalked out by a separate committee. According to a World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) factsheet, the Ganges River dolphin, or susu, inhabits the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna and Karnaphuli-Sangu river systems of Nepal, India, and Bangladesh.

India and US sign FATCA to curb tax evasion[10/07/2015]
September 30, India and the US will start sharing information about bank accounts or financial investments made by their citizens in each other’s countries. This move will help curb offshore tax evasions. On 9th July 2015 India and US signed an Inter Governmental Agreement (IGA) to implement the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) to promote transparency on tax matters. This will bring in greater transparency in tax administration and enforcing tax compliance as well as prevention of offshore tax evasion. This is a major step in the Government’s resolve to fight the menace of black money. The US enacted FATCA in 2010 to obtain information on accounts held by its taxpayers in other countries. It allows US financial institutions to withhold a portion of payments made to foreign financial institutions (FFIs) who do not agree to identify and report information on US account-holders.

The Indian Space Research Organisation’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) on 10th July 2015 launched five satellites, weighing 1,440 kg for a United Kingdom-based company. Northern Railway rolls out first rail coach lit by solar panels[04/06/2015]
The Delhi division of the Northern Railway on 3rd June 2015 rolled out a non-AC coach lit by solar panels installed on its roof. Officials said this is the first time across railways that a solar photovoltaic system for power requirements of light and fan in a broad gauge coach has been provided. The coach, on an experimental basis, was attached to the high speed self propelled-accident relief motive unit, on which Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu travelled from Delhi Cantt. to New Delhi railway station.
